A time for change

After nearly eight years at Hub for Ocean, the last 2.5 years as CEO, I have decided to step aside to explore new opportunities.

The industry has undergone significant changes over these years. There is no doubt that we must reduce greenhouse gas emissions, manage our resources more effectively, and increase reuse in the future. While challenges still exist within the value chains we operate in, we have reached several important milestones in recent years. I am both impressed and inspired by the dedication shown every day to drive this development forward.

To succeed, we must collaborate across sectors and industries – and collaboration is at the core of this organization. It has been a great pleasure to lead Hub for Ocean and the Ocean Hyway Cluster initiative, working with so many skilled, dedicated, and inspiring colleagues. Together, we have achieved results that I am incredibly proud of, and we have built a culture characterized by cooperation, innovation, and trust.

The company is in a strong position with a solid foundation for further growth and success. I am pleased to announce that Stein Kvalsund will take over as acting CEO of Hub for Ocean when I step down in June, and that Martin Hennum will assume the role of cluster leader for Ocean Hyway Cluster. This ensures continuity and progress in our work, and I wish them the best of luck.

Although it is bittersweet to leave a job I have truly enjoyed, I look forward to new challenges where I can continue to grow. I will remain committed to promoting sustainable development, and in August, I will start a new position at Linja AS. There is a good chance our paths will cross again! I will continue to follow the journey and cheer from the sidelines, as I have great faith in the team’s ability to drive progress forward.

A heartfelt thank you to all members, employees, and partners for an inspiring collaboration. It has been a rewarding experience to be part of this, and I look forward to staying in touch in the future!

"First and foremost, I am very pleased to take over this meaningful role from Kristin. Kristin has put in a tremendous effort over the past years and has been an exemplary leader for the organization—work that I am eager to carry forward. I look forward to working with the rest of the team so that, together with our members and partners, we can contribute to establishing a complete hydrogen value chain in Norway and Europe.

In an uncertain time when not everyone prioritizes collaboration, clusters and other organizations that promote cooperation and co-creation for sustainable solutions across technologies and borders, are crucial." – Martin Hennum, Export Manager Ocean Hyway Cluster

"It is bittersweet that a colleague I have worked so closely with for almost eight years has now decided to leave Hub for Ocean to explore new opportunities. These years have passed incredibly fast, and together we have tackled both challenges and new ideas—most importantly, we have supported each other in finding the best solutions. I see this as a sign that we have complemented each other very well, and it has enabled us to build a strong and clear organization that has more than doubled in size since Kristin joined the team in December 2017.

Now, we are approaching the end of this journey together. I wish Kristin the best of luck as she takes on new challenges at Linja AS. She has been a key contributor to the success of Hub for Ocean. Now, new chapters will be written, and Linja will gain a highly dedicated team member.

"I wish Kristin all the best on this new journey." – Stein Kvalsund, COO Hub for Ocean & Ocean Hyway Cluster
