Green ammonia plant opens in Norway in 2026
Skipavika in Western Norway will be home to SkiGA AS’ brand new factory costing 4 billion NOK. The full-scale plant for emission-free ammonia production is scheduled to open in 2026.
The production at Skipavika will be 100,000 tonnes of emission-free ammonia per year.

The site is zoned for industrial purposes, we have secured access to power and the port is already in operation. SkiGA has also agreed with a major European energy company on the key terms for purchasing the green ammonia from the plant. Our concept can be quickly replicated elsewhere in Norway and the EU, says Cornel Russi in SkiGA.
In combo with offshore wind
Green ammonia fits very well with Norway's plans to develop 30 GW of offshore wind by 2040. In practice, the ammonia will function as a battery for offshore wind when it is windy and there is not much demand in the power grid otherwise.
SkiGA is a joint venture between the technology company Fuella and Skipavika Innovation AS. The factory in Skipavika will create 50 jobs locally.

100 years experience
The technology supplier Casale will build the factory, and have 100 years of experience with ammonia.
