GREENSTAT MAKES 2 INVESTMENT DECISIONS FOR AGDER HYDROGEN HUB & GLOMFJORD
Greenstat ASA, through its subsidiary Greenstat Hydrogen AS, has acquired all shares in Everfuel Greenstat Production 1, which has been renamed Agder Hydrogen Hub AS. With La Française de l'Energie (FDE) as the new largest shareholder, Greenstat ASA has secured access to capital enabling the realization of hydrogen production at Fiskå in Kristiansand.
Ocean Highway Cluster congratulates Greenstat and the other partners who is involved in the projects! We look forward to following the projects closely!
The project is strategically located in relation to the continually growing hydrogen market, and a long-term lease agreement with the project's key collaborator, Elkem, has been signed.
In 2023, the project received approval for the building permit from the Kristiansand municipality for the 20 MW hydrogen plant. Four other relevant permits, including the handling of materials at the hydrogen factory site in Fiskå and land reclamation in the sea to prepare for a new quay front to the east, were also obtained during 2023.
In the coming months, Agder Hydrogen Hub AS will finalize the detailed project design and complete sales contracts for compressed hydrogen with maritime customers. The aim is to commence construction in early fall 2024.
Once operational, the facility will offer green hydrogen as carbon-free maritime fuel for traffic along the Norwegian coast and throughout the North Sea basin. In addition to the maritime market, the production could be directed towards zero-emission vehicles and construction machinery in the region.
There is an opportunity to expand the factory's capacity by an additional 40 MW as the market grows and power becomes available.
In addition to the news about Agder Hydrogen Hub, Neptun Glomfjord Green Ammonia AS shares some great news as well:
Neptun Glomfjord Green Ammonia AS, a collaborative project between Greenstat Hydrogen AS and Neptun Tromsø AS, has today made the decision to proceed with the realization of the 'Glomfjord Green Ammonia' project and has communicated a positive investment decision to Enova. The project aims to provide green ammonia as carbon-free maritime fuel and for industrial use from the first quarter of 2027.
Neptun Glomfjord Green Ammonia AS will produce hydrogen gas through electrolysis using hydropower in Glomfjord Industrial Park. The hydrogen gas will then be further processed into ammonia. The planned production capacity is between 60 and 100 tons of green ammonia per day.
The production of ammonia based on hydrogen produced with hydropower will become a competitive carbon-free solution for the maritime sector and industry, especially when production occurs at strategic locations such as Glomfjord Industrial Park, with its modern infrastructure tailored to various industrial needs. The project, along with its main suppliers, is well underway with the design of the facility, and grid capacity has been secured for the first phase.
"We are pleased that, together with our partners at Greenstat Hydrogen, we have reached this milestone, which will once again position Glomfjord as a crucial producer and supplier of green ammonia."
Stephan Klepsland, Chairman of Neptun Tromsø AS.

Greenstat ASA is a renewable energy company with offices in Bergen and Arendal. Since its establishment in 2015, the company has been working to establish the production of green hydrogen in Norway. Greenstat also engages in solar and wind energy. In January 2024, Greenstat signed an investment agreement with La Française de l'Energie (FDE), where FDE becomes the largest shareholder in the company. This ensures the financial strength of the company to carry out projects in its portfolio.
About La Française de l'Energie (FDE)
FDE is a European energy company listed on Euronext Paris, with its headquarters in Pontpierre, France. FDE is committed to achieving a negative carbon footprint and specializes in local energy systems that enable the reduction of greenhouse gases. FDE provides gas, electricity, heat, and CO2 to local entities, thereby replacing imported fossil energy. FDE has significant growth potential and aims to become a leading independent energy company in Europe.
About Neptun Tromsø AS
Neptun Tromsø was established in 2022 as a collaborative project between the Norwegian energy company Troms Kraft AS and the German asset manager Prime Capital AG, with the aim of developing and building hydrogen and ammonia projects in Northern Norway. In addition to the project in Glomfjord, Neptun Tromsø is actively involved in the development of a larger ammonia production facility in Grøtsund, Tromsø, which is also expected to commence production in 2027. The Grøtsund facility will ensure green ammonia as fuel for the maritime sector. Currently, entities such as Posten Bring and Marine Supply are developing a new zero-emission ship to replace the current MS Norbjørn, which operates in a regular rotation between Tromsø and Longyearbyen.
