Hy2gen has joined the cluster
Hy2gen develops large-scale projects to produce green hydrogen and green hydrogen derivates aiming to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors. We are happy to announce that they have joined the cluster!
Founded in 2017, Hy2gen has rapidly positioned itself at the forefront of the green hydrogen industry, benefiting from its early entry into the market. The pioneering edge is clearly reflected in its robust project pipeline, which includes projects in planning and construction phases totalling 1.3 GW and a development portfolio of over 12 GW. Hy2gen develops, invests and operates facilities for green hydrogen production in several locations in Europe, in addition to the US and Canada. The Norwegian branch has now joined Ocean Hyway Cluster.
Hy2gen Norge is currently maturing the development of Iverson Efuels, a large-scale green ammonia plant in Sauda. Mainly targeting the maritime industry with green ammonia, the planned annual production of 200,000 tons could significantly reduce the emissions from the Norwegian maritime fleet. A current key focus is to establish a full value chain that will offer customers green ammonia at the required locations.
Ocean Hyway Cluster could play a crucial role in achieving this by enabling collaboration across sectors and companies and by sharing knowledge about markets and technology. We are eager to take part in developing a complete green value chain for green hydrogen fuels and we seek partnership among other cluster partners. That is why joining a cluster dedicated to hydrogen value chain in the maritime sector is so important, says Erlend Finsnes, Director Business Development in Hy2gen Norge.
Beyond the Sauda project, Hy2gen Norge is exploring other opportunities in Norway and the Nordics. Hy2gen recently announced a strategic partnership with Plug Power with plans to build a 800 MW ammonia plant in Kokkola, Finland.
