HydePoint and Norwegian Hydrogen announce strategic cooperation

HydePoint and Norwegian Hydrogen announce strategic cooperation to accelerate green hydrogen projects in near-shore and offshore markets.

HydePoint, a leader in offshore hydrogen production technology, has entered into a strategic partnership with Norwegian Hydrogen, a key producer and distributor of green hydrogen. The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of mid-size 10-40 MW dockside and near-shore green hydrogen projects, focusing on scaling hydrogen production within a 2-3 year timeframe while laying the foundation for large-scale, offshore wind-integrated hydrogen ventures in the next phase.

Bringing near-shore hydrogen solutions to market

The partnership will leverage HydePoint’s innovative technology for hydrogen production in maritime environments alongside Norwegian Hydrogen’s expertise in developing and operating hydrogen infrastructure. Initially, the focus will be on near-shore projects, combining both companies’ capabilities to deliver mid-size green hydrogen solutions that can help industries transition to zero-emissions energy.

Long-term vision: large-scale offshore hydrogen and wind integration

Beyond these near-term projects, both companies are committed to a longer-term strategy of developing large-scale offshore hydrogen production, particularly in combination with offshore wind farms. This collaboration reflects both companies’ shared ambition to lead the green transition by integrating hydrogen into the renewable energy landscape and creating sustainable energy ecosystems at sea.

“We are excited to partner with HydePoint as part of our mission to deliver reliable, green hydrogen solutions in Europe. Together, we are aligning our technical expertise to fast-track projects that will contribute to the decarbonization of a wide range of industrial segments,” says Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Norwegian Hydrogen on advancing technology for near-shore hydrogen projects,” adds Elin Steinsland, CEO of HydePoint. “By combining our hydrogen technology expertise with Norwegian Hydrogen’s strengths in project development and asset operation, we are well-positioned to accelerate impactful, sustainable energy solutions for various industrial sectors.”

The collaboration reflects both companies' commitment to innovation and driving the energy transition, positioning hydrogen solutions at the forefront of Europe’s renewable energy landscape.
