Hydrogen projects run by cluster member Nasjonalt Vindenergisenter
Cluster member Nasjonalt Vindenergisenter (NVES) is based at Smøla wind farm (Møre og Romsdal county), and is one of three competence centres for renewable energy in the Møre and Romsdal county. NVES aims to increase interest and expertise about the use of wind energy in Norway by sharing knowledge.
They have two ongoing hydrogen projects which will be completed during 2020 and 2021:
Interreg North Sea Region “Green passenger transport in rural areas” (G-PaTRA)
The project is funded by EU and is a consortium of partners from the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, United Kingdom, Belgium and Norway. In Norway NVES works together with Møre and Romsdal county and Smøla municipality to establish production of hydrogen on Smøla for use on land and at sea, mainly focusing on highspeed ferries and buses.
The Norwegian partners have delivered several reports, including a detailed report written by Endrava, Hyon and JCG consult. The report looks into hydrogen demand, price estimate and technical design for two cases at Smøla. NVES has also looked into operation of the “Raumabanen” railway by hydrogen and is now working on a business case for the project. G-PaTRA is finished June 2021.
Zero emission aquaculture work boat
Together with Selfa Artic, Brunvoll and Abyss, NVES is working with a suggestion for work boats powered by hydrogen. The plan is to deliver both a retrofit and new-build design. Abyss has invested in data measurement equipment earlier and has detailed data for consumption in this area. NVES is the project leader and coordinator. The project will be finished by Christmas 2020.
