HyInfra: New reports now available
In April this year, Ocean Hyway Cluster’s project HyInfra identified a 2030 hydrogen demand of over 100 tonnes per day and an ammonia demand of between 1400 tonnes per day and 3600 tonnes per day.
We are now publishing reports revealing where this hydrogen and ammonia is going to be produced. Publicly announced future hydrogen production locations, and existing ammonia production locations have been included in our analysis.

Key findings
The technologies required for production and supply of compressed hydrogen, liquid hydrogen and ammonia are commercialised technologies available today.
Compressed hydrogen infrastructure
A mixture of local production serving small isolated demands, and centralised production supplying larger clusters of demand is the most likely future scenario.
The map image shows potential compressed hydrogen demand and production locations in Southern Norway. Existing and announced production locations have been taken into account.
The production and hydrogen demand locations are colour matched. Production sites numbered with 0 represent local on-site production.

Liquid hydrogen infrastructure
“Low demand” scenario: the two production sites under planning in Mongstad and Glomfjord are all that is needed to meet the demand.
“High demand” scenario: an additional production site in Northern Norway is required (for example Berlevåg).
Ammonia infrastructure
“Low demand” scenario: the ammonia fuel demand in Norway could be served by three plants: Herøya, Glomfjord and Mongstad/Kollsnes.
“Medium demand” scenario: a production plant could be added at Nyhamna, producing at full capacity within 2030.
“High scenario” scenario: additional capacity could be built at Mongstad/Kollsnes and the demand in Northern Norway could be covered by a production plant in Berlevåg.
