Welcome to the cluster, Green Digital
Green Digital is a company that actively chooses to work on projects that drive the green transition. With expertise in digital solutions, they help industries optimize operations, manage data, and create value in a more sustainable way. Recently, they joined Ocean Hyway Cluster, and we had a chat with Tor Erling Aanerud, CEO of Green Digital, about their work, their motivation for joining the cluster, and their vision for the future.
Balancing growth and innovation
Right now, Green Digital is focused on balancing the increasing demand for their services with sustainable growth in their team. Finding the right people with the right skills and mindset is crucial as they continue to develop solutions at the intersection of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).
"There is a lot of uncharted territory in this space, but also significant potential for companies to extract real value from the data they collect," Aanerud explains.
Looking ahead, he sees both challenges and opportunities in the coming years. As industries undergo a green shift, data and digitalization will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition. "Our job is to be at the forefront of this, offering solutions that help businesses adapt and thrive in a more sustainable economy," he says.
Sustainability is not just a goal for Green Digital—it is their foundation. "Our slogan is 'Green by choice, digital by nature,' and I think that sums it up quite well," Aanerud adds. This commitment means not only choosing projects that contribute to a greener future but also actively avoiding those that could harm the environment.
Joining Ocean Hyway Cluster was a natural step, as the cluster operates in industries that align with Green Digital’s core competencies, including hydrogen and fish farming. "We see strong synergies between hydrogen production and land-based aquaculture, especially when side streams from hydrogen can be utilized efficiently. Well-managed and orchestrated data streams are crucial in this context," he explains.
Last week’s membership meeting and company visit to Havland provided valuable insights and new connections. "We see opportunities and have made good connections for future business," Aanerud notes. Their cross-industry expertise allows them to transfer knowledge and solutions between sectors, ensuring that innovation in one field can benefit others. "It's not necessary to reinvent the wheel each time," he adds.
Are Opstad Sæbø from HYDS recognizes Green Digital’s role in driving the green transition:
"Green Digital undoubtedly has the expertise needed to realize and optimize new green industries, and, not least, to connect them in industrial symbioses. It is especially motivating to engage with a company that actively chooses to work within industries that contribute to the green transition while deliberately avoiding projects that do the opposite."
Green Digital shares this perspective, emphasizing their ambition to contribute to a better planet with each project they undertake. As they move forward, they are eager to collaborate within the cluster and continue developing digital solutions that enable a greener, more efficient future.
