Hoerbiger has joined the cluster

Hoerbiger is on a mission to deliver the most cost-efficient hydrogen compression package. With their high ambition and technology, they want to create the most economic and reliable package for high pressures up to 500 bar, that are meeting the industry’s requirement for efficiency.

Hoerbiger and Ariel Corporation, which is the world’s largest manufacturer of reciprocating gas compressors, previously announced a partnership for non-lube compressor solutions for hydrogen mobility markets. They have worked together over the past year; leveraging the combined research and knowledge to provide compressor solutions required by many of the high volume/pressure vehicle projects in planning or realization stages around the world.

We are participating in several projects that we hope will materialize in the coming months and years. With HOERBIGER`s heritage and experience in developing components for reciprocating compressors and Ariel`s heritage and experience in developing compressors, we know what’s needed to industrialize hydrogen applications, says Lars Westlund – Head of Operations for the Sub Region North-West in Hoerbiger.

What is Hoerbiger’s primary focus at the moment?

Hoerbiger’s primary focus at the moment when it comes to Hydrogen Mobility is to deliver a Compressor Package with the “Lowest Total Cost of Ownership”. In today’s compression world it does not exist any good solutions for H2 compressors on 500bar, delivering more than 1 ton per day.

That’s why we joined forces a while ago with Ariel, the biggest Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for compressors in the world, to tailormade a reciprocating compressor to meet the growing demand for higher capacity and more flexible pressures to also allow for direct filling, says Lars Westlund.

Why did you become a part of the cluster?

We wanted to become a part of the cluster to get a bigger overview of the projects and the development in the Marine sector. Still, we have a lot to learn and questions to be asked to tailormade our offerings, Westlund ends with.
