Input to the hydrogen roadmap
Do you have input to the Norwegian hydrogen roadmap? Ocean Hyway Cluster would like input from members and partners before December 8th.
In 2020 Norway got its first hydrogen strategy, the prime minister Erna Solberg pointed out hydrogen in her opening speech at the Conservative Party’s national meeting in September, a new political roadmap has been promised, a proposal of NOK 100 million has been allocated for a strengthened hydrogen investment in the state budget for 2021 - and at the end of October the government announced that they will demand hydrogen on the ferries operating across Vestfjorden in Nordland county from 2024. In addition, Ocean Hyway Cluster (OHC) see that new projects are constantly being launched throughout the hydrogen value chain.
Great expectations to roadmap
During Spring 2021, the government will put forward a proposal to the Parliament regarding long-term value creation from Norwegian energy resources. A part of the proposal will be the launch of a new hydrogen roadmap - as a follow up on the national hydrogen strategy. There are great expectations to this roadmap, and as a national hydrogen cluster OHC are invited to provide input to the roadmap.
Even though OHC experience political will and several proper starting points for a hydrogen industry in Norway, there is a need for targeted measures to support the entire value chain, including a Norwegian domestic market for hydrogen, full-scale production, hubs and export opportunities. A strengthened Enova mandate, concrete objectives for infrastructure development, the use of long-term contracts and instruments to cover the cost gap in the upscaling are some of the areas OHC will provide input on. In addition, OHC will share reports and tools prepared in our project HyInfra, as a contribution to the government's work.
Feel free to send input
Feel free to use the cluster to promote concrete input you may have. OHC needs feedback from members and partners by December 8th latest.
Please send your input to Project Manager in Ocean Hyway Cluster, Kristin Svardal.
