International leading analyst Bloomberg NEF predicts that hydrogen as energy carrier can contribute to 24 percent of the global energy supply by 2050. For the sectors industry, road transportation and shipping hydrogen can contribute to 34 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The cost of producing hydrogen from renewables is primed to fall, but demand needs to be created to drive down costs. In parallel a wide range of delivery infrastructure needs to be built. New government targets and subsidies will be main key drivers.

These are the key messages of Bloomberg NEF’s Hydrogen Economy Outlook, which provides a global, independent analysis and outlook for a hydrogen economy. A short version of the report can be accessed here.
