NTRANS Partner Meeting - 8th January - Oslo Gardermoen

Over 50 NTRANS partners met to give feedback on each of the Research Areas (RA).

During the morning session the four RAs were presented in more detail: research questions, main aims, work packages, expected results after 1, 3, and 8 years, and deliverables. A very active question and answer session followed each presentation.

The four RAs are:

  • RA 1: Deep decarbonisation and societal changes

  • RA 2: Accelerating the transition

  • RA 3: The future energy market

  • RA 4: Transition pathways

The afternoon session involved groupwork on the RAs. Split into four groups, the partners had the opportunity to raise issues and questions within a smaller group setting.

The day concluded with an update on the User Cases (UC) and Innovation. In October, 6 UCs were presented, these have since been condensed into 3 UCs due to significant overlap with CCS, offshore wind, and hydrogen use in the first three UCs:

  • UC 1: Building the future societies

  • UC 2: Renewable power development and its potential uses

  • UC 3: Radical transition in the transport sector

Ocean Hyway Cluster, Kinn kommune, Vestland fylkeskommune and Saga Fjordbase are user partners within UC 3, having contributed with a maritime pilot proposal – “The role of hydrogen on the West Coast”.

What next?

Suggestions for Master’s projects were requested from user partners by 29 Feb.

Research Area leaders will take the feedback from the day’s session and use it to best mould the RAs to the requirements of all partners.

If anyone has any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
